The Arabia Times: Explain your background and your Company’s in detail.

Paul Aver: I am a VC and PE professional with 20+ years of experience in the UK, Germany, UAE and the US. Frontier Path Capital is a multi-family office with presence in Dubai and California. We have 25 Families as our fellow members from the GCC and internationally and provide our families and investors an efficient and flexible way to access the best VC deals.

The Arabia Times: How do you determine the selection criteria for target companies, including considerations for stage, industry, ticket size, and other parameters, especially when working with family offices and private investors?

Paul Aver: We tend to focus more on later stage companies C+ and secondaries at the moment. Other criteria as well as industry are driven by the appetite of the investors. Generative AI is the top priority industry at the moment.

The Arabia Times: Can you provide a brief overview of what “FRONTIERPATH” does and what inspired you to start this company?

Paul Aver: Frontier Path gives international FOs and MENA investors an efficient and flexible access to the best US VC deals in Silicon Valley and selectively in other regions as well as DD, financial analysis, structuring, exiting and other support. The main inspiration is the passion for innovation and technology for myself and my partners.

 The Arabia Times: What are the core values that your consultancy places a high value on? How do these values guide your work in challenging Consulting Services?

Paul Aver: It is transparency; integrity and delivering the results that were promised on time.

The Arabia Times: Could you share some key milestones or achievements that “FRONTIERPATH” has reached since its inception?

Paul Aver: We have completed in a short timeline a number of exiting transactions in medtech space, gen AI, quantum computing and other industries. We are specializing in the US tech deals that are “impossible to get”.

The Arabia Times: Could you explain the importance of understanding the business model of a startup or technology company when providing investment advisory services?

Paul Aver: It is extremely important. We never invest in companies at pre-revenue stage. Product/market fit are crucial as well as future profitability of the company.

The Arabia Times: Can you provide an example of a challenging investment situation you’ve encountered and how your team successfully navigated it?

Paul Aver: Without disclosure of the tech company name, we were involved in major tech transaction for 6 months and managed to overcome the concerns of the investor in terms legal and structural complexity of the secondary deal as well as to provide confidence and availability of major funds to the buyer in extremely short time frame.

The Arabia Times: Could you share some insights into the geographic regions and markets you primarily serve and any specific challenges or opportunities associated with them?

Paul Aver: We primary focus on the US technology market. It is extremely competitive and fast moving.

Paul Aver: It is very entrepreneurial in its DNA. Every member of the team has been a founder or entrepreneur. We are flexible and prefer freestyle solution especially if there are too many moving parts.

The Arabia Times: How do you ensure that your team stays up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to deliver cutting-edge solutions?

Paul Aver: We meet and talk to the entrepreneurs, investors, advisors, investment bankers, venture capilatists and industry experts every day. We also challenge ourselves during weekly investment meetings.
